Commemorating the cinematography of a recently deceased master, Andy Votel – musician, DJ and producer – prepares a special musical tribute to Andrzej Żuławski and his exceptional film scores. Ranging from electronic through orchestral to psych rock and experimental, Votel will explore the music composed by Andrzej Korzyński for Żuławski’s most iconic Possession (1981) and Third Part of the Night (1971) using exclusively Polish vinyl records. Votel will present Żuławski through the creative bond with his long running collaborator and prolific composer Andrzej Korzyński, with whom Żuławski formed a potent fusion to match those of Polański/Komeda, or Fellini/Rota. The night will open with Żuławski‘s short film The Story of Triumphant Love (1967, 26min) based on a short story by Ivan Turgenev, featuring Beata Tyszkiewicz and Piotr Wysocki with Korzyński’s music.
Since 1997 Andy Votel with Damon Gough and Doug Shipton has run the labels Twisted Nerve and Finders Keepers, the latter specialising in launching previously unreleased music film scores and reissuing obscure vinyls from around the world. Votel has been involved in over 300 record releases, producing artists like Gruff Rhys and Jane Weaver, and liberating lost archive releases from Turkey, Iran, Thailand, Czech, Poland, South America, India and beyond.
